Emanuele Campilongo is an Italian tenor particularly appreciated internationally for his musicality, vocal range, agility, as well as for the professionalism with which he approaches each new work.
He debuted the roles of Conte d’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Conte Alberto in L’Occasione fa il ladro (Rossini), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Spoletta in Tosca (Puccini), Borsa in Rigoletto (Verdi) and Gastone in Traviata (Verdi).
He has sung in major theatres in Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, China, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, collaborating with great conductors (such as C. Rizzi, D. Agiman and D. Renzetti), directors (such as M. Carniti and V. Grisostomi Travaglini) and world-famous artists (including V. Grigolo, C. Lepore, N. Di Pierro, G. Gianfaldoni, V. Berzhanskaya, A. Millo, S. Jo and G. Casolla).
He has collaborated with major international festivals such as the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the Festival international de musique symphonique in El Jem (Tunisia).
Winner of prestigious international competitions in Italy and abroad, he has recorded for Rai Radio 3 and for Audax Records as a soloist and choir artist; he has participated in several radio (such as “La Barcaccia” on Rai Radio 3) and television programmes (such as the belcanto column of “Uno mattina in famiglia” on Rai 1).
He continues to refine his technique by regularly studying with G. Canetti and attending masterclasses with world-renowned artists such as the bass C. Lepore.
Education
Emanuele Campilongo was born in 1995 in Belvedere Marittimo (Italy). From a young age, he cultivated his passion for classical music and opera in particular, undertaking various training courses that led him to master several musical instruments and to study singing privately. After graduating in computer engineering (obtained in 2017 in minimal time and with full marks), in 2018 he began studying at the “P. I. Tchaikovsky” Conservatory in Nocera Terinese (Italy), under the guidance of soprano T. Cardace. In 2021, he obtained his first-level academic diploma cum laude with a thesis on the philological rediscovery of Rossini’s tenor. In 2023, under the same teacher’s guidance, he earned the second-level academic diploma from the “Tchaikovsky” Conservatory cum laude and honorable mention «for the exceptional technical prowess and the vocal beauty nurtured within a journey of learning marked by profound dedication and the attainment of splendid milestones» (his thesis focused on the development of software to support student analysis of artistic voice). He continues to perfect his skills under the mentorship of G. Canetti while also participating in masterclasses led by world-famous artists like C. Lepore (bass), delving into and expanding his repertoire, which ranges from Renaissance to 20th-century music, with a particular fondness for composers such as Rossini, Mozart and Donizetti.
Solo career
In 2021, he debuted several principal roles: he is Count Alberto in “L’Occasione fa il Ladro” by G. Rossini at the Teatro Accademico in Castelfranco Veneto (Italy) and in Zola Predosa (Italy) (directed by E. Bertolotti, conducted by F. Da Ros), winner of an audition; he was Count d’Almaviva in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Teatro Politeama in Catanzaro and at the Auditorium Theatre in Amantea (Italy) (directed by F. Villella); he was also Gastone, Count of Letorières in G. Verdi’s “Traviata” at the Teatro di tradizione “A. Rendano” in Cosenza (directed by V. Grisostomi Travaglini, conducted by A. Tirotta). In 2022 he was again Gastone in “La Traviata” at the Cairo Opera House (Egypt – conducted by S. Valeri) and debuted the role of Matteo Borsa in “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi at the Rendano Theatre (directed by R. Bonajuto, conducted by D. Agiman). In 2024, he was Don Ottavio in W. A. Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Auditorium Theatre in Amantea (Italy) (directed by F. Villella, conducted by Mirko Musco) and Spoletta in “Tosca” at the Rendano Theatre (directed by L. Travaglio, conducted by G. Rizzi).
He participated as a soloist in various symphonic productions, such as “The Armed Man: a mass for peace” by K. Jenkins in Paola (Italy, 2016 – Conducted by B. Tirotta), broadcast several times on Rai 5, or the sacred oratorio for male voices and orchestra “Via Crucis” by F. Stabile in the theatre in Potenza named after him (2023, Conducted by P. Menchise). He sings in numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, such as the ‘koncert vítězů’ in the Silesian Theatre in Opava (Czech Republic, 2023 – conducted by Oliver von Dohnanyi) or the concert “Nuit Italienne” at the Festival international de musique symphonique in El Jem (Tunisia).
In May 2023, he took part in the recording for Rai Radio 3 of the concert “Vincenzo Bellini e la romanza da salotto”.
Competitions and Awards
In 2024, he won the first prize at the international competition “Fanny Mendelssohn” (third edition), the second prize at the “New York International Music Competition” (ed. 2024) and was among the winners of the “International Mozart Competition Vienna” (2024 edition). He won the international opera competition ‘Let’s Sing’ in Sofia (Bulgaria, ed. 2022). He qualified as one of the six best pupils from Italian conservatories admitted to the semi-final round of the National Arts Prize organised by the MUR (ed. XVI), following which he took part in the RAI 1 programme ‘Uno mattina in famiglia’ dedicated to belcanto. He was one of 36 semi-finalists out of over 300 candidates in the international competition ‘Voci in Barcaccia’ (second edition) on Rai Radio3. He came second and won the special prize “Concerti in casa” at the international competition “Perusia Harmonica” in Perugia (ed. 2022, vote 96/100); he came third at the XXI “Fryderyk Chopin” International Competition in Catanzaro (ed. 2019). He was admitted to the finals of the 9th edition of the international opera competition “Slavie Music Festival” and the 30th edition of the international opera competition “Petar Konjovic” (both in Serbia).
Other Experiences
There are, also, some important experiences as a choir artist: he sang in G. Verdi’s “Aida” at the Guangzhou Opera House (China, 2017 – directed by F. Zeffirelli, conducted by D. Renzetti), at the Teatro Antico in Taormina (2017) and at the Anfiteatro dei Ruderi di Cirella (Italy, 2017 – conducted by F. Arlia) with G. Casolla, C. Colombara, W. Fraccaro, P. Giuliacci and A. Mastromarino; he sang in the “Daniela Dessì Memorial Gala” at the Teatro Antico in Taormina (2017) with A. Millo, S. Jo, G. Casolla and M. Dragoni; he also sang in the opera concert “Italia, un Sogno” in the last stage of the tenor V. Grigolo’s tour of the same name at the traditional theatre “A. Rendano” in Cosenza (Italy, 2016 – conducted by A. Meoli).
He took part, as an audition winner, in four productions of the ROF (Rossini Opera Festival) 2022: “La Gazzetta” (directed by M. Carniti, conducted by C. Rizzi), broadcast live on radio by Rai Radio 3; concert by soprano P. Yende (conducted by L. Passerini); concert of the duo G. Gianfaldoni – V. Berzhanskaya (conducted by V. Alekseenok); symphonic concert “Three symphonies in critical edition and Edipo a Colono” with Nahuel di Pierro (conducted by F. Ruggero) and first recording of these compositions (label Audax Records).
Not only music
At the same time, he works as a software engineer in the software development department of a well-known global company.
